QoS-Based Middleware Architecture for Distributed Control Systems

چکیده
This paper presents an implementation of a middleware architecture to control distributed systems. The main objective is providing a QoS level between the communications layer and the control layer. This architecture is based on the use of a hierarchical communications structure called “logical namespace tree” and a structured set of control processes interconnected, called “logical sensors graph”. This architecture is named Frame Sensor Adapter Control (FSA-Ctrl). In this architecture communication layer and control layer can manage the QoS policies. The communication layer is based on the Data Distribution Service (DDS), a standard proposed by Object Management Group (OMG). Control layer is derived from the Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) model proposed by Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). Middleware components use messages queues to manage components QoS requirements. By means of QoS policies, control components can take important decisions about distributed questions, like components mobility or information redundancy detection.

Distributed Sensor Architecture for Intelligent Control that Supports Quality of Control and Quality of Service
This paper is part of a study of intelligent architectures for distributed control and communications systems. The study focuses on optimizing control systems by evaluating the performance of middleware through quality of service (QoS) parameters and the optimization of control using Quality of Control (QoC) parameters. The main aim of this work is to study, design, develop, and evaluate a dist...
متن کاملDynamic policy-driven quality of service in service-oriented information management systems
Service-oriented architecture (SOA) middleware has emerged as a powerful and popular distributed computing paradigm due to its high-level abstractions for composing systems and encapsulating platform-level details and complexities. Control of some details encapsulated by SOA middleware is necessary, however, to provide managed quality-of-service (QoS) for SOA systems that require predictable pe...
متن کاملAccess control in ultra-large-scale systems using a data-centric middleware
The primary characteristic of an Ultra-Large-Scale (ULS) system is ultra-large size on any related dimension. A ULS system is generally considered as a system-of-systems with heterogeneous nodes and autonomous domains. As the size of a system-of-systems grows, and interoperability demand between sub-systems is increased, achieving more scalable and dynamic access control system becomes an im...
متن کاملAdaptive Quality of Service Management
The quality of services management in distributed application needs a lot of messages and complex reservation protocols at every communication unit. The proposed distributed and hierarchical architecture for different services offers more extensibility and efficiency to the application. But this architecture is part of the middleware and is transparent for the user level. Most of the systems us...
متن کاملProvisioning QoS in Real-Time Distributed Object Architectures for Power Plant Control Applications
The work in this paper is a case study. This paper describes how we are provisioning QoS in a real-time distributed object platform able to support power plant control applications. A previous experiment with a modified Java-ChorusOS-ATM platform based on RM-ODP/ReTINA binding objects enhanced our knowledge on QoS based distributed object systems. RM-ODP/ReTINA brings a distributed object compu...
